Work Package 2 - Technical Solutions for Broadband Backbones
The results foreseen for this Work Package are:
- Case studies and transferable results for cost effective technical solutions of broadband networks in rural areas
- accumulated know how on feasibility & implementation of new communication means in project regions as basis for future investment
In WP2 all concerned partners work on the technical solutions, mostly within pilot activity 1. Until now different technical alternatives have been tested, experiences were shared and the partners help each other when questions or problems occur. Thus, not only the technical aspects of the project are covered but also the aim of creating a stable and functioning network of experts in different geographical regions and fields of actions is reached.
One important means of communication is the video conferencing system. This system proved to be very useful for a number of partners involved in WP2 – costly travels could be avoided and meetings of two or more partners were easily arranged. The use of the communication platform is also becoming more and more important for the exchange of experience and knowledge. An important event in early 2007 was the CEBIT fair in Hanover/Germany, where technical project results were presented to an international public.
